Il resto dell'anno is an Italian documentary directed by Michele Di Salle, set in Salina, an island of the Aeolian archipelago north of Sicilia. Salina is known to tourists in the summer months, but when the last of them have left, the island's population of about 1000 return to their normal routines; slow and calm. The film reveals the beauty in the meeting of cultures and the little surprises that greet the community in everyday life. I must try and find a way to watch the whole movie; hopefully it comes to DVD in New Zealand.
